Basics on Mallika
Mallika Sherawat was christened Reema Lamba. Sherawat is her mother's maiden name. She was born on the 24th October 1981 in Haryana, India to a conservative family.

She studied at the Miranda House, New Delhi, obtaining a degree in Indian Philosophy. She worked as an air hostess before venturing into movies.

She was married to a Jet Airways pilot Captain Karan Singh Gill whom she later divorced.

Mallika was seen in Surjit Bindrakhia's music video Lak Tunoo. She also made a brief appearance in Jeena Sirf Merre Liye (2002) as Sonia but that was as Reema Lamba.

2003 to 2005 It was in 2003 that Mallika made a lot of noise in Bollywood with the release of Khwaish with Himanshu Mallik. The movie was on the lines of Erich Segal's Love Story and received a lot of publicity for the number of kisses onscreen between the lead pair.

Anurag Basu's Murder (2004) was based on the Hollywood movie Unfaithful and was a fatal love triangle between Sherawat, Emraan Hashmi and Ashmit Patel.

She worked with Rekha in Bachke Rehna Re Baba (2005) as a gold digger. Her appearance in Jackie Chan's The Myth received a lot of attention and she turned heads as she appeared at the Cannes Film Festival.

2006 to 2008  Mallika and Rahul Bose got together in a comedy Pyaar Ke Side effects (2006) that was an average success. Her other movie in 2006 was Darna Zaroori Hai. Her item number in Mayya Mayya in Guru was popular. She took on a negative role, albeit a brief one, in Aap Ka Suroor (2007) with Himesh Reshamiyya. Anees Bazmee's multi-starrer Welcome (2007) was a big success.

In 2008, she was part of the large scale Kamal Hassan starrer Dasavatharam, a Tamil movie. She played the role of Jasmine. Ugly Aur Pagli (2008) with Ranvir Shorey was another comedy that received moderate response. Sherawat and Rahul Bose were paired together in Maan Gaye Mughal-e-Azam (2008), a comedy.

Mallika Sherawat wants to learn folk dance 'lavani': She enjoys typical Bollywood dancing, but now 'Maiyya maiyya' girl Mallika Sherawat is keen to learn lavani, a popular folk dance of Maharashtra.

'I'm not a trained dancer, but I enjoy dancing. My favourite dance is Bollywood dance, but now I want to learn lavani. I'm not getting a teacher, but as soon as I get a good one I'll start my lessons,' Mallika told IANS.

Currently the actress is hosting a dance reality show 'Chak Dhoom Dhoom' on Colors channel.

Mallika replaced Urmila as Judge in Colors TV new reality show "Chak Dhoom Dhoom": Mallika Sherawat was all set to sizzle on the small screen as one of the judges of Colors’ upcoming dance based reality show ‘Chak Dhoom Dhoom’. However, this was a short lived stint of the actress in television.

Now, the latest reports suggest that Mallika has been replaced by another Bollywood actress Urmila Matondkar and that has happened because of her constant tantrums on the sets of the show. The channel was finally bound to show her the exit door.

A source from the channel was quoted saying that the tantrums of the actress were increasing day by day. They were shooting two episodes in a day and Sherawat used to turn very cranky. She used to crib about getting very less time for taking lunch. She had objections regarding the working hours also. She used to be in hurry to leave for home always.

The source added that the production team was also getting tough time in handling her. Finally, they convinced Urmila to replace Mallika and she will start shooting for the show from next week. Urmila will be seen judging along with Jaaved Jaaferi and Terance Lewis.

Colors started airing the show from January 14. So from next week, we will see Urmila on the chair of Mallika.

Mallika Sherawat Dance Show Chak Dhoom Dhoom

Bollywood Actress Mallika Sherawat who is making her foray into television with dance show “Chak Dhoom Dhoom”, made members of the media dance with her on the launch event of the show here Wednesday. Mallika who is one of the judges on the show along with actor, comedian Jaaved Jaaferi and ace contemporary dancer Terence Lewis, made her entry at the event, dancing on her hit track “Maiyyan maiyyan”. She was clad in a short red sleeveless dress.

After that, she urged members of the media to join her on the stage and shake a leg with her. Many journalists obliged and danced with the actress on the song “Main talli ho gayi”. “The press has always made me dance on their tunes but today (Wednesday) I wanted to do something different and make the press dance instead,” Mallika said.

While Jaaved couldn’t be at the event, Terence joined the “Murder” and “Hisss” actress on the stage. The show, which will showcase groups from all over the world, will be aired on Colors Jan 14 onwards. They will be judged on the basis of their choreography, timing, synchronization, team effort and appeal.
