The plans for the Kellie Pickler wedding to songwriter Kyle Jacobs were elaborate, glamorous, and overwhelming. Instead of letting the huge Nashville event cause them to get lost in the whole event, the couple decided that there was only one thing to do…they eloped.
Kellie Pickler explained to ‘People’ magazine, “When two people get married, it’s not about the glamor. It’s about the bride and groom and God.” So the two of them made the decision to skip the whole “huge Nashville public wedding” and elope to a beautiful, private, and peaceful setting in Antigua, where they were pronounced husband and wife with a Caribbean sunset over the ocean served as their backdrop.
Of course, everyone is curious about the gown, which she had designers Mark Badgley and James Miscka create for her. They shared with ‘People’ that they have been Pickler fans ever since she was on ‘American Idol’. “She has such a pure, kind spirit and we were thrilled when she asked us to design her wedding gown. The classic ballgown silhouette is perfect for her amazing figure.”
The satin ivory duchess gown was strapless, with crystal beaded accents which were located on the train. The ballgown skirt, which was tull, could be removed so that she was left with a simple, elegant mini dress underneath. “I took the skirt off as soon as the ceremony was over and wore the short dress for the rest of the evening. I will treasure, treasure that dress,” she exclaimed. “It’s such a classic, timeless gown that I would love to pass down to our children.”
